Noble Academy Columbus

OVERVIEW

For years, Noble Academy’s cafeteria had been used both as a place for students to eat lunch and a space to hold physical education classes. With the growing needs of the school and increased enrollment, Noble Academy hired Lehman Daman to build a ground-up gymnasium.

CHALLENGES

The new gymnasium is situated between two of Noble Academy’s operational school buildings in which K-8th grade students were present. Adding to the challenge of working in the middle of their campus, existing utilities needed to be relocated which made sitework quite complex. With utility companies owning their own infrastructure, L/D assisted the client in planning and managing the relocation process to ensure the work did not impact the school day.

Additionally, having children on a jobsite requires diligence and strict adherence to safety and security. Construction-related traffic was carefully routed and scheduled to not interfere with student drop-off/pick-up. Heavy material deliveries occurred outside of these hours as well. Barricades and signage were also installed to separate the construction site from the rest of Noble Academy’s campus.

L/D completed this project on time and under budget, enabling Noble Academy to have a dedicated space for physical education classes, sports, and other school events.
