Paint Valley ADAMH Opens James Hagen Crisis Care Center

July 21, 2026

Lehman Daman is honored to celebrate the completion of the James Hagen Crisis Care Center, a transformative 17,000 square-foot facility that expands access to behavioral health crisis services for residents throughout the Paint Valley ADAMH Board's five-county region.

The project was born from a critical community need. In 2022, the Paint Valley ADAMH Board conducted a comprehensive assessment of the region's crisis continuum, which identified opportunities to improve access to behavioral health crisis services and recommended the implementation of crisis observation, crisis stabilization, and mobile crisis response services. To address these needs, the Paint Valley ADAMH Board secured nearly $8 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to support the design, construction, and implementation of a new crisis care center. Lehman Daman served as the general contractor for this project, creating a facility that will serve as a vital resource for individuals and families experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

The completed facility includes:

  • 24/7 access to mental health assessment
  • Eight 23-hour observation chairs for immediate crisis support and evaluation
  • An eight-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit for short-term, intensive care
  • Mobile crisis team area providing on-site community response
  • Staff support and administrative areas

This project reflects the power of strategic investment in community health infrastructure. We are grateful to Paint Valley ADAMH for the opportunity to be part of a facility that will help ensure individuals experiencing a mental health crisis can receive the care they need, when they need it most. Congratulations to Paint Valley ADAMH and all project partners on this milestone!
