AFL-CIO

Project Overview
The Ohio branch of AFL-CIO (The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations) was relocating to a new suite in a 12-story office building. Lehman Daman demoed the previous tenants’ office and built AFL-CIO’s new office, consisting of large conference rooms, file rooms, and a reception area.

Project Challenges
The project was on the 11th floor in an occupied 12-story building, requiring strict adherence to safety, site logistics, and building rules and regulations. Lehman Daman coordinated construction activities to minimize disruption to surrounding tenants.
During demolition, Lehman Daman uncovered serious mechanical issues in the building’s infrastructure. This required Lehman Daman to retrace, map and identify electrical circuits and wires in the building. Throughout these challenges, Lehman Daman communicated openly with the building owners, the building manager, the owner’s rep, and AFL-CIO to help them understand the problems and associated costs. As a building issue, the building owner covered the additional expenses.
